Welcome You are invited to attend this year's 2ndProblem-based Learning Summer School, Problem-based Learning,Generic Skillsand Work. The Summer School will take place in the UCD School of HealthSciences from June 23-27th, 2008. This year's event is hosted by FACiLiTATE the PBL Network and the Centrefor Teaching and Learning, University College Dublin (UCD). FACiLiTATE,the Problem-based learning Network is funded by theHEA through theStrategic Initiative Funding (SIF). The role of the network istofacilitate and encourage the sharing of experience and expertiseacrossdisciplines and Institutions in Ireland. The Steering Committeeincludesrepresentatives from a range of Higher Education Institutions:NUI Maynooth;Trinity College Dublin; Waterford Institute of Technology;University CollegeCork; University of Limerick; Tralee Institute ofTechnology and UniversityCollege Dublin. Events The Summer School is presented in three Strands (please click for a larger, downloadable image):
Strand 1(June 23-25th): Thisstrand is designed for participants with little or noexperience ofProblem-based Learning and will give an opportunity to experiencethePBL process and to participate in PBL workshops as students. Strand 2(June 25-26th): Strand 2 will focus on advanced skills for those who haveconsiderable experience as PBL practitioners. Note: There is an overlapin the morning session of Strands 1&2 on Wednesday the 25th. Strand 3(June 27th): Finally Strand 3 is aimed at PBL practitioners and researcherswho are actively involved in Problem-based Learning research.
